10. The Excel dictionary

The easiest way to use the client's codes: download the WBS to an Excel sheet, fill it in (by hand, by copying the client's table, or with an AI assistant) and load it back.

  1. Download dictionary… in the WBS window: saves <model>_dizionario_WBS.xlsx and offers to open it.

  2. The sheet has one block per parameter, side by side. At the top: the Separator and an Example of the code, computed by the sheet as you type.

  3. In each block, the setup rows:

    RowWhat to enter
ParameterThe parameter name in Revit (e.g. WBS_Disciplina).
DigitsHow many characters the code has.
ParentThe parent parameter (e.g. the Element depends on the Discipline), or empty.
Read fromWhat to read on the element: from the menu (Level, Category, System, Family name, Type name, Description, Workset, Project information: …, Fixed text, Parameter: parameter name, Rules in BIMit…).
    If not foundThe fallback code.
In codeYes if it is part of the complete code.
  4. Below, one row per code: Parent code · Description · Description (EN) · Code · Keywords (separated by commas).

  5. Load dictionary…: BIMit checks the sheet.

    • With errors it changes nothing and lists them (e.g. Digits must be a number).
    • Warnings don't block: you see them in the summary (parameters, codes, categories) and choose whether to update.
    • Rules and type overrides already made in BIMit stay. Until you click Save you can still go back.
