What it contains
Exports sheets to PDF and DWG and prepares the drawing register.
With this package your AI uses BIMit's export the way the "Export" window (Esporta tavole) does: it reads the list of exportable sheets and views with their state (new, revision changed, already exported), tries file naming patterns and the folder, opens a sheet in Revit, exports with Revit's own exporters (PDF, DWG, DGN, DWF/DWFx, NWC, IFC, images and a sheet data table), reads the report of the last export and writes the drawing register in Excel.
The export uses the settings linked to the model (the preset the window opens too): formats and options, file names, folder, rows removed from the queue. A model with no settings yet starts from the team's or the user's default profile, otherwise from BIMit's defaults (PDF only, in Documents\BIMit\Exports\<model name>). The queue, saved selections and profiles are prepared with the Queue and Profiles packages, or in the window.
When to use it
- For an issue: export the chosen sheets, a sheet set or a saved selection to PDF and DWG, including only those that are new or have a changed revision.
- To check before exporting: which sheets changed since the last issue, what the files will be called, which folder they will go to, whether two sheets would get the same name.
- To build file names from sheet and Project Information parameters.
- After the export: which files failed and why, and the updated drawing register to attach to the transmittal.
The tools
- Sheet list: the exportable sheets and views, with revision, paper size, sheet set, state and file name.
- Sheet parameters: the parameter names to use as columns or in file names.
- File name preview: tries a naming pattern, prefix, suffix and folder without saving anything.
- Open a sheet or view: makes a sheet or a view active in Revit.
- Export PDF and DWG: exports sheets and views in the active formats, then writes the report and the drawing register when the settings ask for them.
- Export report: the outcome of the model's last export, file by file.
- Drawing register: writes the drawing register in Excel from the history, without exporting.
Good to know
The AI level "Read" is enough for the tools that read and for opening a sheet; Export PDF and DWG and Drawing register write files on this PC and need the "Write" level (the default). No tool of the package changes the model.
Where it is in Revit
BIMit tab › Sheets panel › Export.
The same operations can also be done by hand in the BIMit "Export" window (Esporta tavole), with the "Open window" button: the list and the file names in the "1 · Selection" tab, the formats in the "2 · Formats" tab, the export, the report and the drawing register in the "3 · Create" tab.
