Profiles

Sheets › Profiles

Manages sheet export profiles and presets, including the team's.

What it contains

The tools your AI uses to read and change the export settings of sheets and views, the same settings as BIMit's "Export" window (Esporta tavole).

There are two different things:

  • the model's preset: a .json file linked to the model, with all the export settings (selection, PDF, DWG, DGN, DWF/DWFx, NWC, IFC, image and sheet-data formats with their options, file names, folder, drawing register, report), plus the export history, the saved selections, the scheduled exports and the per-item settings. If the model has none yet, BIMit saves it in Documents\BIMit\<model>_Esporta.json;
  • the profiles: the settings only, under a name, to reuse on other models. They live in Documents\BIMit\Profili esportazione (the folder has this name in every language), one .json file per profile. A team folder (for example on the network) can give everyone the same profiles and the same default profile.

None of these tools changes the Revit model: they only work on the settings .json files and on the link between the model and its preset, which BIMit remembers on this PC.

When to use it

  • To have your AI prepare the export settings for a submission: formats, file names built from sheet fields, destination folder.
  • To use the same settings as another project in a new model, through a profile.
  • To share a preset with colleagues in the project folder, or a default profile in the team folder.
  • To keep profiles tidy: rename, delete, import them, choose the default.

The export itself (PDF, DWG and the other formats) is in the Esporta (Export) package; the queue and the saved selections are in the Coda (Queue) package.

The tools

  • Preset: the model's current export settings, with the allowed values.
  • Save preset: changes the export settings and saves them in the linked preset.
  • Link preset: links an existing .json preset to the model, for example a colleague's.
  • Profiles: the user's profiles, the default, the team folder and the profile in use in the model.
  • Save profile: creates or overwrites a profile from the current settings, from BIMit's or from a file.
  • Apply profile: a profile's settings become the model's.
  • Delete profile: deletes a profile from the profiles folder.
  • Rename profile: changes a profile's name.
  • Import profiles: imports the profiles of a folder (also the team's) or a single .json file.
  • Default profile: chooses the profile new models start from, also for the whole team.

Good to know

These tools do not change the model.

Where it is in Revit

BIMit tab › Sheets panel › Profiles.

The same operations can also be done by hand in BIMit's "Export" window (Esporta tavole), with the "Open window" button: in the profiles row (Load, Save, New, Manage) and with the "Open preset..." and "Save preset as..." commands.
