Save profile

Sheets › Profiles

Writes files

Creates or overwrites an export profile from the model's settings, from BIMit's or from a .json file.

What it does

Creates an export profile, or overwrites the one with the same name, starting from:

  • the model's current settings (the usual case);
  • BIMit's default settings;
  • a .json file, profile or preset, also a colleague's.

Before saving, your AI can change some of the profile's settings, with the same entries as Save preset. The profile holds the settings only: history, saved selections, scheduled exports and per-item settings stay in the model's preset.

When it starts from the current settings, or with applica, the model switches to the profile just saved.

How it works

  1. You give your AI the profile's name and what to start from.
  2. BIMit applies any changes, saves the profile in Documents\BIMit\Profili esportazione and, if asked, applies it to the model by saving the linked preset.
  3. Your AI receives the name used, the file, whether the profile is in use in the model, and any warnings.

Example requests

  • "Save this model's export settings as the profile Submission PDF+DWG."
  • "Create a profile PDF only A3 from BIMit's settings, with black and white PDF on ISO A3 paper."
  • "Take the preset Mark sent me (C:\Temp\Esporta.json), make it a profile and use it in this model."

What changes and how to undo

The profile file is written in the profiles folder; if a profile with the same name exists, it is overwritten without asking. Characters that are not allowed in file names are removed from the name. If the profile is put in use in the model, the linked preset changes too (or is created in Documents\BIMit\<model>_Esporta.json). The Revit model does not change.

Ctrl+Z does not undo these changes, because they are in files. A new profile is removed with Delete profile; an overwritten profile cannot be recovered, so if you need the previous version, save it first under another name.

Limits

AI level required: Write, which only you choose in Revit.
