Import profiles

Technical name: tavole_profili_importa

Sheets › Profiles

Writes files

Imports into the user's profiles all the profiles of a folder, for example the team's, or a single .json file.

What it does

Brings into the user's profiles folder (Documents\BIMit\Profili esportazione):

  • all the profiles of a folder, for example the team's on the network. That folder's default (written in its profili.json) becomes the user's default, and BIMit remembers the folder as the team folder: from then on new models start from the team's default;
  • or a single .json file, profile or preset, under the name you choose or the file's name.

How it works

  1. You tell your AI the folder or the file to import.
  2. BIMit copies the profiles into your profiles folder one by one; those it cannot read go into a list of errors and the others are imported anyway.
  3. Your AI receives the imported profiles, the errors, the default and the team folder.

Example requests

  • "Import the team's export profiles from \\server\BIM\Profili esportazione."
  • "Add the file C:\Temp\Esporta Smith.json to my profiles and call it Smith."

What changes and how to undo

The profile files are written in your profiles folder, overwriting those with the same name. With a folder, the default (if the folder names one) and the team folder BIMit remembers change too. From a preset only the settings are taken, not the history or the selections. The source folder, the Revit model and the models' presets do not change.

Ctrl+Z does not undo the import, because it is in files. An imported profile is removed with Delete profile, and the default is set back with Default profile; an overwritten profile cannot be recovered.

Limits

AI level required: Write, which only you choose in Revit. A folder or a file must be given; you cannot import from your own profiles folder.
