What it does
Applies one of Revit's four transforms to one or more elements, given by id. Coordinates are in millimeters, from the project's internal origin.
- Move (
sposta): moves the elements by a vector [dx, dy, dz]. - Copy (
copia): creates copies of the elements offset by a vector; withcopieit creates a series, each one a vector further than the previous one (up to 500). - Rotate (
ruota): rotates the elements by an angle in degrees, counterclockwise, around a vertical axis throughcentro[x, y]; without a center, through the midpoint of the elements. - Mirror (
specchia): mirrors the elements about the vertical plane through two points [x, y]; withcopiait leaves the originals in place and creates a mirrored copy.
After the change BIMit reads the elements back and compares them with the request: for move, rotate and mirror it checks that each element is where it should be; for copies it looks for each expected copy at its position, of the same type and with the original's rotation. It also looks for new clashes in the area and collects Revit's warnings.
How it works
- Your AI calls the tool with the operation, the element ids and the vector, angle or axis. It takes the ids from the model or from the elements you pick in Revit with Ask for elements. With
provait can simulate first: it sees what would change and the model goes back to how it was. - BIMit runs the transform in Revit in a single operation, answers by itself any Revit dialogs that open (OK by default) and, if Revit reports an error, rolls everything back: the model stays as it was. There is no confirmation in Revit: the elements move when your AI calls the tool.
- BIMit reads the elements back:
verifica, at the top of the result, says ok, warnings or problems, with the ids and what to do. A mismatch does not undo the change by itself. - Your AI tells you how many elements were moved, rotated or mirrored, or the ids of the copies created, and for a rotation the center used; if you ask, also a picture of the area before and after.
Example requests
- "Move the elements I selected 1200 mm east."
- "Copy this desk 5 times, one every 1600 mm along X."
- "Mirror a copy of these bathrooms about the axis between points 0,0 and 0,10000."
What changes and how to undo
Moves, rotates or mirrors the given elements, or adds their copies. Everything happens in a single Revit operation, which shows in the Undo list with BIMit's name and the operation ("sposta", "copia", "ruota", "specchia"): one Ctrl+Z in Revit puts everything back. Moved elements can also be brought back with the opposite transform (opposite vector or angle, same axis). Copies are removed with Delete elements or, if your AI opened a Work session, with Undo the session. With prova the model does not change.
Limits
- Needs the AI level "Write" (the default), which you choose with the "Level" button on the BIMit tab.
- Needs an open, editable project in Revit, with no other operation in progress.
- All ids must exist in the model; otherwise nothing changes.
- One operation per call; at most 500 copies in a series.
- Rotation is always around a vertical axis; mirroring always about a vertical plane.
- If Revit refuses the transform, the operation fails, the model stays as it was and your AI gets Revit's error.
- Every change to the model can be undone with Ctrl+Z in Revit; team actions ask for confirmation in Revit.
