What it does
Deletes from the model the elements given by id. In Revit, deleting an element also deletes what depends on it (tags, dimensions, hosted elements such as doors and windows in a wall…): BIMit counts them and shows them first.
- Without
confermait is a dry run: BIMit runs the delete, looks at what would go and rolls everything back. It reports the given elements, how many elements would be deleted in all and the ids of the dependents. Nothing changes in the model. - With
conferma: true it really deletes. If in all, dependents included, the elements are more than the threshold you set (50 by default), your approval in Revit is needed first.
After the delete (or the dry run) BIMit reads the model back: it checks that the given elements are gone and summarizes the deleted dependents by category.
How it works
- Your AI calls the tool without
confermaand tells you what would be deleted, dependents included. - If you want to go ahead, your AI calls it again with
conferma: true. Up to the threshold, BIMit deletes right away in a single Revit operation; if Revit reports an error, it rolls everything back and the model stays as it was. - Above the threshold, a window opens in Revit saying how many elements would be deleted, from which document and of which categories. To approve, tick "I have read the request: I approve this action only" and choose "Approve"; "Deny" does nothing. Meanwhile your AI follows the request with Job status and gets the result at the end.
verifica, at the top of the result, says ok, warnings or problems, with the ids and the deleted dependents by category.
It is a risky tool: with BIMit's "Confirm risky actions" option on (it is on by default), the apps that support it ask for your permission at every call.
Example requests
- "What happens if I delete the walls I selected? Don't delete anything yet."
- "Delete the desk copies you created earlier."
- "Delete all the detail lines in the active view."
What changes and how to undo
Deletes the given elements and those that depend on them. Everything happens in a single Revit operation, which shows in the Undo list with BIMit's name and "elimina": one Ctrl+Z in Revit brings back all the deleted elements. The dry run changes nothing; if you deny the approval, nothing is deleted.
Limits
- Needs the AI level "Write" (the default), which you choose with the "Level" button on the BIMit tab.
- Needs an open, editable project in Revit, with no other operation in progress.
- All ids must exist in the model; otherwise nothing is deleted.
- The approval threshold counts the elements in all, dependents included; you change it in BIMit › Settings (Impostazioni) ("Deleting more than this many elements at once…").
- The approval window only accepts an answer given by a person: with the box ticked and after reading it.
- Every change to the model can be undone with Ctrl+Z in Revit; team actions ask for confirmation in Revit.
