Work session

Technical name: lavoro

Modelling › Interaction

Reads

Keeps track of what your AI's tools add, change and delete in the model during a task, and sums it up.

What it does

Opens, sums up and closes a work session of your AI. From the moment the session starts, BIMit records every element that your AI's tools add, change or delete in the model. In a task of several steps (for example "create the walls of the floor, then the floors, then the dimensions") you know at any time what has been done, and you can remove everything that was created with Undo the session.

Only the changes made by your AI's tools are recorded: not the ones you make in Revit meanwhile, nor the simulations ("prova"), which leave nothing in the model. An element created and then deleted in the same session no longer appears.

The summary gives the session's name and start time, how many elements were added, changed and deleted, the breakdown by category, the element ids and the names of the Revit operations that ran.

How it works

  1. Before a modeling task your AI starts the session with "inizia" and a name (for example "ground floor walls").
  2. While your AI works, BIMit notes in Revit the elements its tools add, change or delete. With "stato" your AI reads the summary at any time.
  3. At the end your AI closes with "fine" and tells you what changed. Whenever your AI uses this tool, if your AI app shows interactive panels (MCP Apps), a review panel in Italian also opens: the counts of created, changed and deleted elements, the table by category, buttons to select them in Revit or see them highlighted in an image, and the button to undo the work, which asks for confirmation.

Example requests

  • "Before modeling, open a work session called 'first floor bathrooms'."
  • "What have you changed in the model so far?"
  • "Close the session and tell me how many elements you created per category."

What changes and how to undo

The tool changes neither the model nor any file: it only keeps the record. The record lives in memory while Revit stays open and is not saved. A new "inizia" replaces the session in progress; "fine" closes it, and from then on there is nothing left to undo with Undo the session: if you want to remove what was created, do it before closing.

Limits

  • The AI level "Read" is enough; you choose the level with the "Level" button on the BIMit tab.
  • One session at a time for each connection of your AI.
  • The summary lists at most 200 ids per group (added, changed, deleted), 30 categories and 50 Revit operations; the counts are always complete.
