Developer preview, coming soon. In BIMit 2.1.1 this tool (CAD → BIM package) is only in the developer's version: in the public beta it does not appear on the tab, in the pane or in "All tools", and your AI does not see it. With the developer's version, Paulo offers modelling and consulting.
What it does
Builds an analyzed and checked plan in the open model, in a single step that can be undone:
- levels: the base one and, if given, the top one, created when missing;
- wall types by thickness, created as "BIMit muratura 20 cm" (with a material "BIMit muratura", "BIMit divisoria" or "BIMit pannello"), or the model's types you give in "tipi_muro";
- walls, up to the top level or "altezza_mm" high; the toilet partitions with their own height and distance from the floor, not room bounding;
- architectural columns, with one type per size ("BIMit pilastro 30x30") made from a rectangular column family of the model;
- doors and windows hosted in the walls, with swing and hinge as drawn, the windows' sill height, and the Mark "code-01", "code-02"…;
- room separation lines;
- rooms with name, number, finishes (floor, wall, ceiling, base) and, in Comments, the drawing's area and the floor level mark;
- on request, a floor and/or a ceiling in every enclosed room, on the outline Revit computes.
For doors and windows BIMit uses, for each code, the type given in "famiglie"; otherwise the type whose Type Mark equals the code, or that is named as the code, or the family with the code in its name; otherwise it creates a new type from a loaded family with the schedule's sizes, and tells you.
A new build of the same plan replaces the earlier one: BIMit first removes the elements it had built from that plan.
How it works
- Your AI calls the tool with the plan's id and, when needed, the level, the top level or the height, the parts to build, the families and the wall types to use. It is best done when Check the plan gives the result you want.
- BIMit builds in Revit as a background job, stage by stage (levels, walls, columns, openings, separations, rooms, floors), in a single operation "BIMit: pianta ". There is no confirmation dialog: the model changes when your AI calls the tool. If an element cannot be made, Revit drops it and the others stay.
- At the end your AI gets the report: what was created, the types used or created, Revit's errors with the plan's ids, the notes, and the comparison of every room in the model with the drawing's area. If the build takes longer than the wait, your AI follows its progress to the end.
Example requests
- "Build the plan on Level 1, with the walls up to Level 2."
- "Build only walls and openings, with the PA1 doors from the family 'Single-Flush: 0915 x 2134mm'."
- "Build the corrected plan again and put a floor in every room."
What changes and how to undo
The model changes: it creates levels (when missing), wall, column, door and window types, materials, walls, columns, doors, windows, room separation lines, rooms and, on request, floors and ceilings; with "sostituisci" (the default) it first deletes the elements of an earlier build of the same plan. If the level has no floor plan view yet, it creates one for the separation lines, "BIMit - ".
Everything is a single Revit step, "BIMit: pianta ": a single Ctrl+Z in Revit undoes the whole build. If the job is canceled while it runs, BIMit stops between two stages and the model stays as it was. If a type given in "famiglie" or "tipi_muro" is missing, if the model has no door or window family to start from, or if the top level is not above the base one, nothing is built.
Limits
- Needs the AI level "Write" (the default), which you choose with the "Level" button on the BIMit tab.
- Needs a project open and editable in Revit: not a family, not a read-only model.
- Without "livello" the level of the active plan view is used, otherwise the lowest one (or a new "Piano terra" if the model has none).
- Without an architectural column family in the model the columns are not built (the answer says so); the rest is.
- Ceilings are created from Revit 2022 on; not in Revit 2021.
- The plan's coordinates are in model millimeters: the drawing point chosen as origin in the analysis becomes the model's 0,0.
- Every change to the model can be undone with Ctrl+Z in Revit; team actions ask for confirmation in Revit.

quota_livello_mm | The level's elevation if it must be created (default 0). |
livello_superiore | The level walls, columns and rooms go up to (name; created when missing). |
quota_superiore_mm | The top level's elevation if it must be created (default: level + altezza_mm). |

famiglie | Code → type to use, e.g. {"PA1": "Family: Type"}. |
