Create a project

Technical name: commessa_crea

Project › Project

Writes files

Creates a project or an area with the name and code you give and links the active model; from then on BIMit keeps its diary by itself.

What it does

Creates on your PC a BIMit project or an area (a subject that is not a project: personal, another activity) with its folder: the working folder, if you give one, otherwise Documents\BIMit\Commesse\<name>. Inside it, in the hidden .bimit subfolder, BIMit keeps its memory: the project record, the diary, the notes and a README.

You give the name and the code: your AI must ask you for them, not make them up. The code (for example "C24-017") becomes the project's id; without a code the id comes from the name. The folder in Commesse takes the project's name; if that folder already belongs to another project, <name> (<code>). The id keeps letters, digits, "-", "_" and "."; spaces and "/" become "-", accents are dropped.

You can also give:

  • aliases: the other names and codes you call it by; a message that starts with one of them activates it;
  • working folder: its folder on this PC, which becomes the project's folder: emails, documents and notes are filed there, files are saved there and BIMit's memory (.bimit) is there; if it does not exist, BIMit creates it;
  • senders: addresses or domains ("@client.com") of the people who write about the project, to recognize its emails;
  • client, description (one or two sentences) and the Motore project, if there is one.

If Revit is open, BIMit immediately links the active document (or the one given) to the project, unless you say not to; if there is no document to link, the answer says so and the link is made later with Link the model. When the project is created without linking a model, it also becomes the active project of the conversation; otherwise your AI activates it with Active project.

From then on BIMit records by itself in the project's diary the writes, the code run and the jobs completed on the linked models.

How it works

  1. You ask your AI to create the project; if name and code are missing, it asks you.
  2. BIMit checks that id, name and aliases are not used by another project, creates the folder with its files and, with Revit open, links the active document.
  3. You get the confirmation with the id, the project folder, the working folder and the result of the link.

Example requests

  • "Create the project Santo Stefano School, code C24-017, client City of Bergamo."
  • "New project 25001 Villa Rossi: working folder C:\Projects\25001, emails come from @studiorossi.it."
  • "Create a 'personal' area for things that are not about projects, without linking the model."

What changes and how to undo

The model does not change. On your PC BIMit's memory of the project is created, in the hidden .bimit subfolder of its folder: the working folder (created if it does not exist), otherwise Documents\BIMit\Commesse\<name>. A "created" line is written in the project's diary; if the document is linked, the link is in the project record.

The model's link is removed with Link the model (scollega). None of the tools in this package deletes a project.

Limits

  • The project is not created if one already exists with the same id or the same name, or if the name, the code or an alias is already a name of another project: each name or code must activate a single project.
  • The working folder must be the full path of a folder on this PC (C:\…): network folders and synced folders (for example OneDrive) are not accepted. It cannot be another project's folder, nor the BIMit folder, Commesse or Arrivi.
  • A document that has never been saved is not linked: save it first.

Parameters

ParameterMeaning
nomeThe name of the project, as the user uses it. Required.
codiceThe code (job number, e.g. "C24-017"): it becomes the id. Default: from the name.
tipocommessa (a project, default) or area (a subject that is not a project: personal, another activity).
aliasOther names and codes the user calls it by: a message that starts with one of them activates it.
cartella_lavoroIts folder on this PC (full, local path: never network or OneDrive). Default: Documents\BIMit\Commesse\<name>.
mittentiAddresses or domains ("@client.com") of the people who write about it: they recognize its emails.
clienteThe client.
descrizioneOne or two sentences: what project it is.
motoreThe Motore project, if there is one: its folder under progetti/.
collegaImmediately links the active document or the one given (default true).
documentoThe document open in Revit to link: title, file name or path. Default: the active document.
