What it does
Links models to a project, so BIMit knows which project each open model belongs to and records its actions in that project's diary. You can link:
- the active document in Revit, or the one given: by its central model or cloud path when it is workshared, otherwise by its file path; a detached copy opened with "Open a model" is linked by the file it comes from;
- a prefix of the titles: every model whose title starts that way (for example the code at the start of the file names);
- a folder: every model in that folder and its subfolders;
- a path: a model (central, cloud or local) even when it is not open.
In the same project record it also adds the aliases (other names and codes you call it by), the senders of its emails (addresses or domains) and the working folder on this PC.
With scollega it removes what is given. With ignora it says the document belongs to no project: BIMit stops pointing it out to your AI as a document to link (ignora false puts it back among those to ask about).
If a linked document is also linked to other projects, the answer names them. If, after unlinking a document, it stays linked through a prefix or a folder, the answer says which.
How it works
- Your AI calls the tool with the project (when it gives none, the conversation's active project is used) and what to link.
- BIMit updates the project record on your PC and writes a line in the diary. Prefixes, folders, paths, aliases, senders and working folder are linked with Revit closed too; the active document needs Revit open.
- You get the result: what was linked or removed, the project's models, those open now, aliases, senders and working folder.
Example requests
- "Link this model to the project Santo Stefano."
- "Link to project C24-017 every model whose name starts with C24-017 and add the alias 'school'."
- "This file belongs to no project, don't ask me again."
What changes and how to undo
The model does not change: only the project record on your PC changes (linked models, aliases, senders, working folder), plus a line in the diary. A new working folder is created if it does not exist. If you add, change or remove the working folder, the project's folder changes with it: BIMit copies the project's memory (.bimit) into the new folder (without a working folder: Documents\BIMit\Commesse\<name>) and leaves the previous one as a backup; the files already filed stay where they are and the next ones go to the new folder.
It is undone with the same tool: scollega removes a link, an alias, a sender or the working folder; ignora false puts the document back among those whose project is asked for.
Limits
- A document that has never been saved is not linked: save it first, or link a prefix of the titles.
- Model folder and path must be full paths (C:\…, \server\…) or cloud paths.
- The working folder must be a folder on this PC: network folders and synced folders (for example OneDrive) are not accepted. It cannot be another project's folder, nor the BIMit folder,
CommesseorArrivi. - An alias already used by another project is refused: each name or code must activate a single project.
Parameters
| Parameter | Meaning |
|---|---|
| commessa | Id, name or alias of the project. Not needed with ignora. |
| prefisso | Links the models whose title starts this way. |
| cartella | Links the models in this folder and its subfolders (full path). |
| percorso | Links a model by its path (central, cloud or local) even when it is not open. |
| alias | Adds names or codes the user calls it by (with scollega, removes them). |
| mittenti | Adds addresses or domains ("@client.com") of its emails (with scollega, removes them). |
| cartella_lavoro | Its folder on this PC (full, local path): BIMit copies the project's memory (.bimit) there; "" or scollega removes it (the project goes back to Documents\BIMit\Commesse\<name>). |
| scollega | true = removes the link given (or the document's). |
| ignora | true = the document belongs to no project; false = ask about it again. |
| documento | The document open in Revit to link: title, file name or path. Default: the active document. |
