Tool

WBS values

Technical name: wbs_valori

Data › WBS

Reads

Lists the distinct values of a property in the elements of some categories, with how many elements have each value, to write WBS tables and rules.

What it does

Returns the distinct values of a property in the elements of some categories, each with the number of elements that have it, most frequent first. Elements without a value are counted separately.

It is there to build the WBS on the model's actual values: conversion tables (model value → code, for example level → L01), rules and keywords. For example, which levels, families, systems or comments really are in the model before mapping them to the client's codes.

The properties are the ones the WBS configuration uses: family, type, family_type, description, type_comments, type_mark, assembly_code, keynote, model, manufacturer, level, system_classification, system_abbreviation, system_name, system_type, comments, mark, workset, phase_created, category, or any parameter by name with param:Name. Revit's built-in parameters are read independently of Revit's language.

How it works

  1. Your AI gives the property and, if it wants, the categories; otherwise the ones included in the linked configuration are used.
  2. BIMit reads the elements of those categories in Revit and counts the values.
  3. You get the list value → number of elements, to use when writing tables and rules.

Example requests

  • "Which levels do the WBS elements use, and how many elements does each have?"
  • "List the values of the Zone parameter in walls and floors."
  • "Which families are there among the plumbing fixtures? I need them for the client's table."

What changes and how to undo

Nothing: the tool only reads and changes neither the model nor any file.

Limits

  • Without categories, a configuration linked to the model is needed to take the included ones from.
  • An unknown property is refused, with its name.

Parameters
