What it contains
Notes, to-dos and diary of the project. Four tools that work on the project's memory, in its files on your PC (the hidden .bimit subfolder of the project's folder), and never touch the model:
- the diary is written by BIMit by itself: every call to a tool that writes (even when it fails), the code that ran, the end of long jobs and the operations on the project itself (created, model linked), on the models linked to a project. Every entry has an id ("d12"), the date, the tool, the document, the arguments, the outcome and a summary;
- the notes are what the diary cannot know: decisions with the reason why, conventions, lessons, to-dos, end-of-session summaries. Your AI writes them, each with its own id ("n4").
With the Diary package switched off, BIMit stops recording actions in the diary. The project is created and linked to the models with the Project package (Create project, Link the model).
When to use it
- To record a decision or a convention of the project (names, codes, parameters) and find it months later, even in another conversation.
- To keep the list of to-dos and close them as you go.
- To know what was done on a model, when, with which tool and with what outcome, including the writes that failed.
- To redo an action already done, on the same model or another one, with a few different values.
The tools
- Add a note: adds a decision, a convention, a lesson, a to-do, a note or a summary to the project's memory.
- To-dos: lists the project's to-dos, marks them done or reopens them.
- Diary: searches the diary of the actions BIMit recorded, with filters for text, tool, document, dates, kind and outcome.
- Repeat an action: runs a diary entry again with the same tool and the same arguments, as a preview first.
Good to know
Repeat an action runs a tool again: that tool's own access level and checks apply, as when it is called directly.
Where it is in Revit
BIMit tab › Project panel › Diary. The package has no BIMit window of its own: you use it by talking to your AI.
