Writes the model

Tags one or more elements in a view, with the category's tag loaded in the model or a tag type of your choice, with or without a leader.

What it does

Places a tag on each given element, in a Revit view:

  • without tipo it uses the tag of the element's category loaded in the model, like Tag by Category in Revit;
  • with tipo it uses that tag type, given as "Family: Type" or by the type name alone if only one family has it;
  • rooms and spaces get their room or space tag (spaces in a plan view), with the default type.

The tag goes at the element's point (its insertion point, the middle of its line or the center of its extents in the view), shifted by spostamento_mm if you give it, horizontal, with or without a leader. Your AI finds the element ids in the model, for example with Find elements, or asks you to pick them in Revit with Ask for elements.

Elements that cannot be tagged (no position, or no tag loaded for their category) are reported separately with the reason; the others are tagged anyway. After creating the tags, BIMit reads them back and checks that every requested element has one, that every tag refers to a requested element and is in the requested view, and that the leader and the type are the ones requested; it also collects Revit's warnings.

How it works

  1. Your AI calls the tool with the elements and the options (view, tag type, leader, offset). With prova it can simulate first: it sees what would be added and the model goes back to how it was.
  2. BIMit creates the tags in Revit in a single operation and answers the Revit dialogs that open by itself (default OK). If it cannot create any tag, everything is rolled back and it says why (usually the category's tag family is missing: load it or give tipo). There is no confirmation in Revit: the tags are created when your AI calls the tool.
  3. BIMit reads the tags back: verifica, at the top of the result, says ok, warnings or problems, with the ids and what to do. A mismatch does not undo the change by itself.
  4. Your AI reports the tags it created (tag id and element id) and the elements left without a tag; if you ask, also a picture of the area before and after, in the tags' view.

Example requests

  • "Tag all the doors on the Ground Floor in the active plan."
  • "Tag the selected rooms."
  • "Tag these columns with a leader, moving the tag 500 mm to the right."

What changes and how to undo

It adds the tags to the view; the tagged elements do not change. Everything happens in a single Revit operation, named after BIMit and "etichetta" in the Undo list: one Ctrl+Z in Revit removes all the tags of the call. With prova the model does not change. If your AI opened a Work session, the tags can also be removed with Undo the session.

Limits

  • Needs the AI level "Write" (the default), which you choose with the "Level" button on the BIMit tab.
  • Needs an open, editable project in Revit with no other operation in progress.
  • Needs a tag loaded in the model for the elements' category, or a tipo given. For rooms and spaces, tipo and the leader are not used.
  • Tags are always horizontal; the same spostamento_mm applies to every element of the call.
  • Every change to the model can be undone with Ctrl+Z in Revit; team actions ask for confirmation in Revit.

Parameters

ParameterMeaning

vista_idView to place the tags in. Default: the active view.
tipoTag type ("Family: Type"). Default: the category's tag loaded in the model.
leadertrue: with a leader.
spostamento_mm[dx, dy] in mm from the element's position.
provatrue: simulation, reports the changes and rolls everything back.
modificheReports the elements added, modified and deleted (default true).
dialoghiAnswer to Revit dialogs during the operation: ok (default), annulla, si, no, chiudi, link1…link4, a number or mostra (you see them); or one answer per dialog.
verificaCheck after the change: breve (short, default), completa (with the measured values) or no.
immaginitrue: one picture of the area before and one after, cropped to the elements, which your AI sees.
vista_immaginiView for the pictures: the tags' view (default), 3d (a temporary 3D view) or the name or id of a view.
