Modelling › Annotate

Dimensions and tags: your AI dimensions grids, levels, walls and families and tags elements, rooms and spaces in a Revit view.

What it contains

Dimensions and tags. Two tools that add annotations to a Revit view without changing the annotated elements: one creates a linear dimension between two or more elements, the other places a tag on each given element.

Like the other modeling tools, they work in a single Revit operation, can be tried first as a simulation and read the model back after the change: verifica, at the top of the result, says whether the dimension and the tags are as requested. If you ask, your AI also sees a picture of the area before and after.

When to use it

  • After modeling walls, grids or families, to dimension them in plan or section without doing it by hand.
  • To tag all the doors, windows or rooms of a view in one go.
  • To check distances: the dimension reports the value of each segment as Revit shows it.

The tools

  • Dimension: creates a linear dimension between grids, levels, reference planes, walls or families, with the line placed by BIMit or given by you.
  • Tag: tags elements with the category's tag or a type of your choice, with or without a leader; rooms and spaces with their own tag.

Good to know

Every change to the model can be undone with Ctrl+Z in Revit; team actions ask for confirmation in Revit.

Where it is in Revit

BIMit tab › Model building panel › Annotate. The package has no BIMit window of its own: you use it by talking to your AI.
