What it does
Finds the elements near a point (coordinates in millimeters) or an element, within a radius, and sorts them nearest first. For each one it returns id, category, name and distance in millimeters.
The distance is measured from each element's volume (its bounding box), not from its location line: a cable tray three meters above the base of a wall still counts as next to the wall. Views and view-specific elements, such as annotations, are not considered.
Your AI uses it to understand what is around before placing an element or routing a service.
How it works
- Your AI gives the center (a point or an element), the radius and, optionally, the categories.
- BIMit finds the elements within the radius, computes each one's distance and sorts them.
- Your AI receives the total and the nearest ones (50 when not specified) and can show them to you with Select elements.
Example requests
- "What is within one meter of this column?"
- "Which pipes run within 500 mm of beam 456789?"
- "List the structural elements near the point 12000, 4500, 3000."
What changes and how to undo
Nothing: the tool only reads. The model and files do not change.
Limits
Default radius 1000 mm; 50 elements when not specified, at most 500.
