What it does
Deletes the given project parameters from the model, like the delete button of the "Parameter manager" (Gestione parametri) window:
- a project parameter (not shared) is deleted completely, with its definition and its values;
- a shared parameter is removed from the project: the values in the elements are lost, but the definition stays in the families that use it.
Each parameter is given by name, GUID or id (those of Project parameters) and is recognized by its id: a global parameter or another parameter with the same name is never touched.
Before deleting, BIMit counts how many elements had a value in each parameter, so your AI can tell you what was lost.
How it works
- Your AI names the parameters to delete. It is worth asking for Project parameters first, for example the empty ones, and deciding together what to delete.
- BIMit checks that all the given parameters exist. If a name, GUID or id does not match, or a name fits more than one parameter, it deletes nothing and asks you to be more specific (with the id).
- BIMit deletes the parameters in a single Revit operation, "BIMit: delete project parameters", then checks that they are no longer in the project. If Revit refuses the operation, the model stays as it was.
- Your AI tells you which parameters were deleted, with how many elements had a value, and which were not, with the reason.
The "Parameter manager" window asks for confirmation before deleting; the tool instead acts when your AI calls it. That is why BIMit flags it to your AI app as a risky action, to be called only directly by name: with BIMit's "Confirm risky actions" (Conferma azioni a rischio) option on (it is on by default), it asks your app to ask for your permission before every call.
Example requests
- "Delete the empty project parameters, but show me the list first."
- "Remove the shared parameter 'Old_code' from the project."
- "Delete the parameters with id 456789 and 456790."
What changes and how to undo
The given parameters disappear from the project, along with their values in all elements. Everything happens in one Revit operation, "BIMit: delete project parameters": one Ctrl+Z in Revit undoes it and brings parameters and values back. If no parameter is deleted, the model does not change. No file is written.
Limits
- Needs the AI level "Write" (the default), which you choose with the "Level" button on the BIMit tab.
- Works on a project, not on a family. The model must not be read-only and no command may be in progress in Revit.
- In workshared models, parameters in use by another user are skipped, with the reason.
- Global parameters and family parameters are not deleted from here.
- Every change to the model can be undone with Ctrl+Z in Revit; team actions ask for confirmation in Revit.
