Parameters to CSV

Technical name: parametri_progetto_csv

Data › Parameters

Writes the model

Saves the list of project parameters, with the same filters and counts as Project parameters, to a CSV file for Excel.

What it does

Saves the list of the model's project parameters to a CSV file, with the same filters as Project parameters and the columns of the "Parameter manager" (Gestione parametri) window: Parameter, Parameter type, Instance/type, Data type, Group, Categories, GUID, With value, Elements, Use, Element Id.

The file is ready for Excel: semicolon (;) separator, UTF-8 encoding. The headers and entries such as "Shared" or "Instance" are in BIMit's language.

Without a path, the file goes to Documents as <model>_parametri.csv; if it already exists, BIMit adds a number (_2, _3…) instead of overwriting it.

How it works

  1. Your AI calls the tool with the filters it needs and, if you want, the file path.
  2. BIMit reads the project parameters, counts the values in the elements (unless asked not to) and writes the file.
  3. Your AI tells you where the file was saved and how many parameters it contains.

Example requests

  • "Export the list of project parameters to Excel."
  • "Save the shared parameters bound to doors to CSV, in C:\Deliverables\door_parameters.csv."
  • "Make me a file with the empty parameters, to send to the team."

What changes and how to undo

The model does not change. A CSV file is written to disk: without a path it is always a new file; if you give the path of a file that already exists, it is overwritten. Ctrl+Z in Revit does not apply to the file: to remove it, just delete it.

Limits

  • Needs the AI level "Write" (the default), which you choose with the "Level" button on the BIMit tab, because it writes a file.
  • Works on a project, not on a family. If no parameter passes the filters, no file is written.
  • If the file is open in Excel it cannot be saved: close it and try again.
  • Every change to the model can be undone with Ctrl+Z in Revit; team actions ask for confirmation in Revit.
