What it does
Adds a scheduled export to the active model. You set:
- when: date and time of the first run; the time applies to every following run;
- repetition: once, every week (on the chosen days, or on the weekday of the first date) or every month (on the same day as the first date; in shorter months, on the last day of the month);
- what: sheets (by number, name or id, or "*" for all), views, ids, a Revit View/Sheet Set or a saved selection;
- optionally, only sheets and views never exported or whose revision changed.
Sheets, views and sets are fixed when the schedule is created: for example "all sheets" means the sheets that exist now. A saved selection, instead, is read at every run, so it follows the sheets it contains at that time.
At the set time BIMit exports with the model's formats, folder and file naming rules at that moment, like the "Export" button of the window: it writes the files, the report and the drawing register (elenco elaborati) when the settings ask for them, and records the export in the history.
How it works
- Your AI turns the request into a date, a repetition and a content, and calls the tool.
- BIMit checks the date, finds the sheets, views or saved selection and adds the schedule to the export preset linked to the model. If no format is active or the export folder is missing, it gives a warning.
- You see the new schedule and its next run in the answer. From then on BIMit checks every minute whether it is time to export and, if Revit is open with the model, exports without opening any window.
Example requests
- "Every Friday at 19:00 export all sheets."
- "Schedule the export of the saved selection 'Structural issue' for tonight at 23:00."
- "On the 1st of every month at 8:00 export only the new or revised sheets of the 'Construction' set."
What changes and how to undo
The Revit model does not change. The schedule is saved in the export preset linked to the model; if the model has none, BIMit creates one (in Documents\BIMit) and links it. Every change to the model can be undone with Ctrl+Z in Revit, but that is not needed here: to undo a schedule, delete it or turn it off with Manage a scheduled export, or from the Export window, tab "3 · Create", section "Scheduling".
When the schedule runs, the exported files are written to the export folder: remove them from there if you do not need them.
Limits
- Revit must be open with the model. A run missed while Revit was closed runs once when it is opened again.
- A "once" schedule needs a future date and time, and turns itself off after running.
- The model's settings need at least one active format and an export folder, otherwise the run exports nothing.
- Give either a saved selection or sheets and views, not both.
- NWC is skipped if the Navisworks exporter is not available in Revit.
