Walls and floors

Modelling › Walls and floors

Creates walls, floors and ceilings - your AI draws in Revit from coordinates, from clicked points or from room boundaries, and BIMit checks the result.

What it contains

Three tools your AI uses to model the basic elements of a building in Revit: walls along a polyline, floors and ceilings from an outline or from the boundary of a room or a space. Coordinates are in millimeters, measured from the project's internal origin; your AI can take the points from the model or ask you to click them in Revit with Ask for a point.

Each call is a single Revit operation: if Revit reports an error the model stays as it was, and a single Ctrl+Z removes what was created. With "prova" your AI can simulate before creating. After each creation BIMit reads the model back and compares the elements with the request (position, type, level, heights, wall joins, floor and ceiling area), looks for new clashes in the area and collects Revit's warnings; if you ask, it shows a picture of the area before and after.

When to use it

  • To lay out the perimeter and partitions of a story quickly from dimensions, a survey or clicked points.
  • To put floors and ceilings in rooms that are already placed, following their boundary.
  • To try out variants: with the dry run you see what would be created without touching the model.

The tools

  • Create walls: one wall per segment of a polyline, joined at the ends, with type, level, height or top constraint and drawing line (centerline, left or right face).
  • Create floor: a floor from a closed outline or from the boundary of a room or space, with type, level and height offset from the level.
  • Create ceiling: a ceiling from a closed outline or from the boundary of a room or space, 2700 mm above the level unless you say otherwise (from Revit 2022).

Good to know

Every change to the model can be undone with Ctrl+Z in Revit; team actions ask for confirmation in Revit.

Where it is in Revit

BIMit tab › Model building panel › Walls and floors. The package has no BIMit window of its own: you use it by talking to your AI.
