What it does
Tells your AI what you allow it to do in this Revit. The access levels are:
- Read: reads the model, views and files; selects and asks you to click. It changes nothing.
- Write (the default): also writes in the model and in this PC's files.
- Team: also synchronizes with central, relinquishes elements and worksets and saves as central, each time with your approval in Revit (except a new test central in the system temp folder, %TEMP%).
- Code: also C# and Python code inside Revit, DLLs, Revit's commands and buttons. It is a developer preview, coming soon: in the public beta of BIMit 2.1.1 the Level menu shows only Read, Write and Team, and the Code level cannot be chosen.
The tool returns the current level, the default one, until what time it lasts (and how many minutes are left), what each level adds, which tools are above the current level, and the latest actions blocked by BIMit's safeguards.
Only you change the level, in Revit, with the Level button on the BIMit tab: no tool can raise it. Your AI can, however, wait up to 120 seconds for you to raise it.
How it works
- Your AI asks for the current level; if it needs a higher one, it asks you to raise it and waits meanwhile.
- BIMit answers immediately, even while Revit is busy; when waiting, it checks every half second whether you raised the level.
- You choose the level in Revit and for how long; afterwards it goes back to the default by itself. Your AI receives the result and carries on, or explains what is missing.
Example requests
- "What access level do you have now?"
- "What more could you do at the Team level?"
- "I'm raising your level to Write: wait until I've done it."
What changes and how to undo
Nothing: the tool only reads and does not change the level. Only you change the level, in Revit.
Limits
Maximum wait 120 seconds.
