What it does
Counts the pinned elements (Pin) by category, like the "Unpin elements" window: in the whole model, in a view, in the Revit selection or among the given ids. For each category it returns:
- the key to use with Unpin elements (for example
OST_Walls;cadfor imported and linked CAD files,imagelinkfor linked PDFs and images,nonefor elements without a category,cat:123for categories without an internal name); - the category name as Revit shows it and how many pinned elements it holds;
- whether it usually stays pinned and why: link (Revit models, CAD files, PDFs and images, point clouds, coordination models), project datum (levels, grids, scope boxes), project coordinates (Project Base Point, Survey Point), controlled by the curtain wall type (panels, mullions, grid lines), part of a railing;
- in workshared models, how many elements cannot be edited now because they are in use by another user or were changed in the central model.
Elements inside groups get a row of their own (key !group) and are never unpinned by BIMit. At the end come the total and the list of default categories, the ones that would be unpinned if none is given. Nothing in the model changes.
How it works
- Your AI picks where to look (model, view, selection or ids) from your request.
- BIMit reads the pinned elements of that scope in Revit and groups them by category; on request it adds the ids of each category.
- You get the count per category with notes on what is best left pinned; from there you can ask to unpin the categories you need.
Example requests
- "How many pinned elements are there in the model, by category?"
- "In the active view, which categories have pinned elements? Give me the ids too."
- "Among the elements I selected, which are pinned and which should stay that way?"
What changes and how to undo
Nothing: the tool only reads. The model and files stay as they are. If the scope is the selection and nothing is selected in Revit, or the given view is a view template, BIMit says so instead of counting. If a view cannot be read, it suggests looking in the whole model.
Limits
It also works when your AI's access level is Read. It works on project models, not on families open in the Family Editor.
Parameters
| Parameter | Meaning |
|---|---|
ambito | Where to look: modello (default, the whole model), vista (the given view or the active one), selezione (the elements selected in Revit), ids. If missing and ids or a view are given, BIMit uses that scope. |
vista | With scope vista: the view name, or "attiva" (default, the active view). |
vista_id | With scope vista: the view id. |
ids | With scope ids: the element ids. Here too, levels, grids, links and the like are unpinned only by choosing their category or all categories. |
elenca_ids | true to also get the ids of the elements in each category (default false). |
