What it does
Removes the pin (Pin) from the pinned elements of the chosen categories, within the given scope: the whole model, a view, the Revit selection or a list of ids. It is the same operation as the "Unpin elements" window.
- With no categories given, it unpins the ones the window ticks when it opens: all except those that usually stay pinned (links, levels, grids, scope boxes, Project Base Point and Survey Point, curtain wall elements controlled by the type, railing parts).
- Categories are given by the keys returned by Pinned elements (for example
OST_Walls,cad,imagelink,none,cat:123) or by name. - To also unpin the categories that usually stay pinned, choose them by name or key, or ask for all categories.
- It always skips elements inside groups (Revit unpins them only by editing the group) and, in workshared models, elements in use by others or changed in the central model; it lists them with the reason.
At the end it reports how many elements were to be unpinned, how many were unpinned, those skipped or with errors, the requested categories that had no pinned elements and the time taken. On request, it selects in Revit the elements left pinned.
How it works
- Your AI picks the scope and the categories from your request, usually after counting the pinned elements with Pinned elements.
- BIMit gathers the pinned elements of those categories in Revit, sets aside those that cannot be unpinned and unpins the rest in a single Revit operation, "BIMit: unpin elements".
- You see the result in the model and get the report; if you want, the elements left pinned stay selected in Revit. The tool opens no confirmation dialog: to see beforehand what will be unpinned, ask for the count.
Example requests
- "Unpin all pinned elements in the model, but keep links, levels and grids pinned."
- "Unpin only the pinned walls and floors in the active view."
- "Unpin the elements I selected, then select the ones that are still pinned."
What changes and how to undo
Only the pin state of the elements changes: positions, parameters and files stay as they are. Everything happens in a single Revit operation, "BIMit: unpin elements": one Ctrl+Z in Revit pins all the unpinned elements again. If Revit cancels the operation because of an error of its own, no element is unpinned and BIMit reports Revit's error; if an error occurs while unpinning, the model is not changed. If the chosen categories have no pinned elements, nothing changes and BIMit lists the available categories.
Limits
Your AI's access level must be at least Write. It works on project models, not on families open in the Family Editor; it does not change a read-only model and does not start while another operation is in progress in Revit. It never unpins elements inside groups nor, in workshared models, elements in use by others or changed in the central model (synchronize first in that case). Every change to the model can be undone with Ctrl+Z in Revit; team actions ask for confirmation in Revit.
Parameters
| Parameter | Meaning |
|---|---|
ambito | Where to look: modello (default, the whole model), vista (the given view or the active one), selezione (the elements selected in Revit), ids. If missing and ids or a view are given, BIMit uses that scope. |
vista | With scope vista: the view name, or "attiva" (default, the active view). |
vista_id | With scope vista: the view id. |
ids | With scope ids: the element ids. Here too, levels, grids, links and the like are unpinned only by choosing their category or tutte_le_categorie. |
categorie | Keys (for example OST_Walls, cad, imagelink, none, cat:123, from Pinned elements) or names of the categories to unpin. Empty: the default categories. |
tutte_le_categorie | true to unpin all categories, including those that usually stay pinned (default false). |
seleziona_non_sbloccati | true to select in Revit the elements left pinned, as the window does when it closes (default false). |
