What it does
Relinquishes to the central model the elements you borrowed and the worksets you own, like Revit's Relinquish All Mine command: from then on your colleagues can edit them.
You choose what to relinquish: everything (elements and worksets, unless you say otherwise), only the borrowed elements or only the worksets.
Only the elements you have not changed are relinquished: the changed ones stay yours and are relinquished when you synchronize, with Synchronize with central.
How it works
- You ask your AI to relinquish elements or worksets; it prepares the request and gets the job number right away, without being blocked.
- BIMit checks the document and brings Revit to the front with a dialog saying what is asked: document, central model, what is relinquished and what will happen.
- To approve, tick "I have read the request: I approve this action only" and choose "Approve: relinquish now"; "Deny" does nothing. Revit relinquishes to the central right away.
- Meanwhile your AI follows the request with Job status and at the end gets how many elements and how many worksets were relinquished; if there was nothing to relinquish (or only changed elements), the answer says so. Until you answer, it can withdraw the request with Cancel the job.
Example requests
- "Relinquish all my elements and worksets, I'm handing the model over to Mark."
- "Relinquish only the borrowed elements and keep the worksets."
- "Relinquish my worksets."
What changes and how to undo
The content of the model does not change: what changes is who holds the elements and worksets. The relinquished ones are no longer yours and colleagues can edit them; the ones you changed stay yours until you synchronize. If you deny the request, or your AI withdraws it before you answer, nothing changes.
Relinquishing cannot be undone with Ctrl+Z: that is why it always asks for your approval in Revit.
Limits
Your AI's access level must be Team: only you raise it in Revit (Level), for a time you choose, and it goes back to the default level when that time ends and at every Revit start.
- The document must be a workshared model attached to its central: not a family, not a model opened detached, not read-only, and with no operation in progress in Revit.
- If the central is locked because a colleague is saving it, BIMit does not wait: relinquishing fails and you try again later.
- The dialog only accepts an answer given by a person: with the box ticked and after reading it; while Revit is playing a journal the request is denied.
- While the dialog is open, the other tools that use Revit answer that Revit is busy.
- Only one relinquish request at a time can wait for your answer.
- A worker Revit (opened by BIMit in the background) does not do team actions.
