What it contains
Two tools for shared parameters: one reads the shared parameter file (.txt) and tells, parameter by parameter, whether it is already in the project; the other turns the chosen parameters into project parameters on the chosen categories. They are the same steps as BIMit's "Add shared parameters" window, done by your AI.
The file can be the one set in Revit (Manage › Shared Parameters) or another .txt file. BIMit only reads it: the file does not change and Revit's setting stays as it was.
Parameters are recognized by their GUID. A parameter already in the project with the same GUID is not duplicated: it only gets the categories it is missing. One with the same name but a different GUID is not added, because the project would have two parameters with the same name.
When to use it
- When you need to add the parameters of your office or project file to the project on many categories at once.
- To find out which parameters of the file are already in the project, as instance or as type, and which have a name already used by another parameter.
- When a shared parameter already exists but is missing on some categories.
- Before filling in values with the tools of the Parameters package (Parametri), to have the right parameters on the right categories.
The tools
- Read shared parameters: the parameters of the file with GUID, group, data type, description and state in the project. Changes nothing.
- Add shared parameters: adds the chosen parameters as instance or type project parameters on the chosen categories, in a single Revit operation that one Ctrl+Z undoes.
Good to know
Every change to the model can be undone with Ctrl+Z in Revit; team actions ask for confirmation in Revit.
Where it is in Revit
BIMit tab › Data panel › Shared. From the package, "Open window" opens BIMit's "Add shared parameters" window: choose the file (Revit's or another one with Browse), the parameters, the categories, instance or type, the group they appear under in Properties and the option "Values can vary by group instance", then click "Add".
