What it does
Prepares the work of Create the spaces without changing the model. For a linked Revit model and a room phase it returns:
- the linked and loaded models in the project (key, name, file), the chosen model, the phases of the link and the phase used;
- how many placed rooms there are and on how many levels, and how many rooms without a level are skipped;
- for each level of the link: name, elevation in the current model (in meters), number of rooms, the proposed level of the current model (the nearest), the offset, whether the offset is over 1 m, whether the level is included, and the plan view the lines would be drawn in, or "no plan view: level skipped";
- the levels of the current model, with elevation and plan view;
- a summary: how many rooms would be traced and on how many model levels.
Only placed rooms of the main model and of the primary design options are considered. A linked level is included only when the nearest model level is at most 1 m away; otherwise the proposed level is shown but left out, and it has to be chosen explicitly in Create the spaces. Elevations are measured from the internal origin of the current model, with the link in its position; when two linked levels go to the same model level, their rooms add up.
The plan view is a floor plan of the level; if there is none, a ceiling plan or a structural plan. Area plans are not used.
How it works
- Your AI chooses the linked model and the phase from your request (when nothing is said: the first link in alphabetical order and its last phase).
- BIMit reads the rooms of the link in Revit, groups them by level and matches each level to the nearest level of the current model.
- You get the level table with offsets and plan views: from there you decide whether to create the lines as proposed or change the matches.
Example requests
- "Which rooms of the linked architectural model would be traced as spaces, and on which levels?"
- "Check whether the levels of the link match ours: tell me the offsets and which levels are left out."
- "Analyze the rooms of the Existing phase of the Architecture link."
What changes and how to undo
Nothing: the tool only reads, and the model and files stay as they are. If the project has no loaded linked Revit model, if the current model has no levels, or if the phase given does not exist, BIMit says so and, where useful, lists the possible choices. If the same file is linked more than once, it asks you to pick the copy by its key.
Limits
It also works when your AI's access level is Read. It works on a project, not on a family open in the Family Editor, and reads only loaded linked models.
Parameters
| Parameter | Meaning |
|---|---|
modello | The linked model with the rooms: key or name as given by Linked MEP models (mep_modelli), or the link instance id. Default: the first in alphabetical order. |
fase | Name or id of the room phase, or "tutte" (all). Default: the last phase of the link. |
