Data › Export for AI

Reads

Lists the 15 tables Export for AI can write, with columns, size and saved choice, and the exports folder.

What it does

Returns the list of the 15 tables that the "Export for AI" window and the Export for AI tool can write. For each table: the file (for example 06_elements.csv), the key (06_elements), the name, what it holds, the columns, whether it can get very large and whether it is among those chosen last time in the window. It also returns the saved exports folder, the default folder and the name of the index file (00_INDEX.md).

FileContent
01_project_info.csvProject information: title, path, Revit version, date and every Project Information parameter.
02_categories.csvOne row per category present, with the number of instances, types and families.
03_families.csvOne row per family: loadable, in-place or system.
04_types.csvOne row per element type.
05_type_parameters.csvOne row per type and parameter, only those with a value. Can be very large.
06_elements.csvOne row per instance: category, family, type, level, workset, phases, group, host, position and bounding box in meters. Can be very large.
07_element_parameters.csvOne row per element and instance parameter with a value. On a large model it reaches millions of rows.
08_parameter_definitions.csvShared, project and global parameters: GUID, data type, group, instance or type, bound categories.
09_levels.csvLevels in elevation order.
10_rooms_spaces.csvRooms and MEP spaces, with area, volume, perimeter, whether placed and whether enclosed.
11_worksets.csvUser worksets; empty when the model is not workshared.
12_links.csvLinked Revit models, linked or imported CAD files, point clouds.
13_materials.csvThe materials of the document.
14_views_sheets.csvViews, schedules, legends, view templates and sheets, with the sheets each view is placed on.
15_warnings.csvRevit's warnings, with the elements involved.

How it works

  1. Your AI asks for the list before exporting or reading an export, to know which tables and columns exist.
  2. BIMit reads the saved choices of the "Export for AI" window on this PC; the model is neither read nor touched.
  3. You get the list of tables, with those already chosen, and the folder where the next export will be created.

Example requests

  • "Which tables can you export from the model and what do they contain?"
  • "Which tables are ticked in the Export for AI window, and which folder do the exports go to?"
  • "Which columns does the elements table have?"

What changes and how to undo

Nothing: the tool only reads. The model, the files and the window's choices stay as they are.

Limits

AI level required: Read. The tables marked as large (type parameters, elements, element parameters) can have hundreds of thousands of rows on a large model.

No parameters.
