What it contains

Opens other models in the background, detached, to read them.

With this package your AI opens a Revit file (.rvt or .rfa) from disk or the network without you doing it by hand, and reads it with BIMit's other tools. Opening a large model takes minutes, so it is a job: your AI is not blocked, follows its progress and can stop it at any time.

Workshared models open by default detached from central, with worksets preserved but closed: nothing is written to the central's folder and the file does not change.

When to use it

  • To compare or check another model of the project (for example the structural or MEP model) without closing the one you are working on.
  • To read a central model without registering in its folder and without the risk of synchronizing by mistake.
  • To open only the worksets you need, saving time and memory on large models.
  • To examine an .rfa family from a library.
  • To follow or stop a long job, including a team action waiting for your approval in Revit.

The tools

  • Open a model: opens an .rvt or .rfa in the background, detached from central if it is workshared, with a memory guard.
  • Job status: tells how far a long job has got and returns its result.
  • Cancel the job: stops a queued or running job, or withdraws an approval request.

Good to know

The AI level "Read" is enough for every tool of the package; only opening as a local copy attached to central ("copia_locale") needs the "Team" level, which only you choose.

Where it is in Revit

BIMit tab › Model panel › Open models.

The package has no BIMit window of its own: you use it by asking your AI.
