BIMit Privacy Policy

Translation: in case of discrepancy the Italian version prevails.

Last updated: 18 October 2026

This policy explains which personal data the BIMit plugin for Autodesk Revit processes, why, and what your rights are, under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

Data controller

Paulo Giavoni — DynaTools E-mail: paulo.giavoni@gmail.com

What we do not collect

The content of your models never leaves your computer through BIMit. BIMit reads and writes Revit models only locally: file names, elements, parameters, values and WBS configurations are not sent to our servers.

Claude (MCP)

If you turn on Claude (MCP) and use an MCP client (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or others), BIMit answers that client's requests, and only on your computer: the connection is local, restricted to your Windows user, and is turned off when you close Revit. What you ask Claude and the model data that Claude reads through BIMit's tools (elements, parameters, configurations, files you point it to) are sent by that client to Anthropic (or to the provider of the client you use), under your account and under that provider's terms and privacy policy. For that data the controller is the client provider, not DynaTools. If you do not turn on Claude (MCP), nothing changes.

Each Revit with MCP turned on records its version and its connection in %LOCALAPPDATA%\BIMit\Mcp\istanze, so that Claude can find all open Revit sessions; the record is deleted when you turn MCP off or close Revit.

What data we process

DataWhenPurposeLegal basis
BIMit account e-mail and passwordRegistration and sign-inTo identify you and protect accessPerformance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b))
First name, last name, country, cityRegistration, profileTo manage the account and support, and to understand how widely the product is usedPerformance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b))

Marketing consent and its dateIf you give it (optional)To send you news, guides and offers about BIMit and other DynaTools productsConsent (Art. 6(1)(a))
BIMit and Revit version, date and time of last useAt every Revit startup and, while Revit is open and you are signed in, about every 10 minutesTo manage updates and compatibility, and to know how many people use BIMit and who is using it at that momentPerformance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b))
Usage statistics: which features you use (startup, commands, names of the tools called by Claude and whether they succeeded, number of elements written and of errors, type of error) linked to your account; never the content of requestsDuring use (can be turned off)To improve the product and fix errorsLegitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f))
Feedback messages and, if you choose to attach them, the last lines of BIMit's technical logWhen you write to us from the pluginTo answer you and solve the problemPerformance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b))

The password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication: we never see it.

Last use is a single value per account (date and time of the last signal, with the BIMit and Revit version), which is overwritten each time: it is not a history of your sessions. Only the controller sees it, to know how many people use BIMit and whether it is open at that moment.

You can turn off usage statistics at any time: BIMit → Account → Privacy.

Where the data is stored

The data is stored on Google Firebase (Google Cloud): the service's functions run in the European Union (Belgium), and the database is located in the United States. The transfer to Google LLC takes place on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and of the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.

On your computer, in the %LOCALAPPDATA%\BIMit folder, BIMit saves the sign-in session (encrypted with Windows), the settings and a technical log that is deleted after 14 days.

How long we keep the data

  • Account, profile and feedback messages: until you delete the account.
  • Usage statistics: at most 24 months, after which they are deleted automatically.
  • Marketing consent: until you withdraw it.

Who can see the data

Only the controller. The data is not sold or disclosed to third parties. Google acts as processor for the infrastructure.

Your rights

You can request at any time access to your data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest.

  • Withdraw marketing consent or turn off statistics: BIMit → Account.
  • Delete the account and all data (profile, statistics, messages and account): BIMit → Account → Delete account. The deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
  • For any other request write to paulo.giavoni@gmail.com: we answer within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, www.garanteprivacy.it).

Changes

If this policy changes substantially, we will tell you in the plugin. The version in force is always this page.
